Alumni Brothers Join ‘Increase The Peace’ Events

Starting in October of 2016 in response to the growing violence surrounding the many neighborhoods in Chicago, the non profit organization The Resurrection Project started the Increase the Peace violence prevention program.

Aimed at the youth of the neighborhoods, the program takes a literal stand against the daily violence by hosting “camp outs” in area “hot zones” taking over corners and blocks of the city at night that are normally plagued by violence.

The events take place each Friday night ¬†throughout the summer around Chicago and are preceded by a week of service in each of the targeted neighborhoods which include street clean ups, resource sharing and reporting of problems to Chicago’s 311 number along with door to door meetings throughout Chicago’s South Side.

The alumni brothers of Lambda Lambda along with some undergrad entities, not only raised close to $1000.00 for the events, but also recently took part in one such “camp out” in the Pilsen Neighborhood where many of the brothers not only come from but also continue to give back to the community in various ways.
