Alumni Colony Sends Aid To Vieques

For the entire month of October, the Alumni Brothers from the Charlotte Alumni Colony, Charlotte, NC gathered supplies to send to victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

The relief effort was the idea of Alumni Brother Lewis Chandry who has family on the small island off the coast of Puerto Rico where little to no aid has reached thus far. The brothers collected canned goods, tools, tarps and other items that people needed. The collected items came from throughout the Charlotte and Mecklenburg County Areas and thanks to a GoFundMe which they set up, they were able to cover the cost of shipping all of the items.

All of the supplies were sent to the family of Bother Lewis who had been coordinating with the Alumni Colony to distribute everything collected among the people in Vieques.

The Alumni Brothers will continue to collect aid via their GoFundMe account to send relief packages to those in need. You are welcome to visit their page and donate here: https://www.gofundme.com/HurricaneMariaReliefEffort
